Inkpad
Video, work in progress, 2020

This short video documentary presents a conversation with artist Allana Ross about her socially engaged projects, Mobile Dye Workshops and Toxic Mounds Tours, which invite participants to deepen their awareness about environmental contamination. She has grown a patch of indigo plants at Granite City Arts District, and she leads a group of participants through the all-day  process of harvesting, preparing a dye, and transforming plain clothes into works of art.  As we pull indigo leaves from stems, she talks about the plant’s historical colonial significance.
