May 12th, 2014 Setting up the Hive

After I picked up the package of bees, we put the finishing touches on the hive and leveled it out in a sunny corner of the yard. Angie came over and helped me install the package. Angie pried off the feeder can, leaving a large opening at the top of the package. We put it inside the hive and closed it up, hoping that the bees would just come out on their own. Inside the package, there is a queen in a small cage. We left her in there for the time being, while they got used to their new home. Angie told me to come back the tomorrow and set her free.
